Extreme music has always been a refuge for freaks. So many bands have made songs about feeling like a freak and finding community with people who are strange like you. A lot of it tends to be pretty general, but it clicked with me when I was little. Outcast Stomp is the same impulse, just more specific. It’s a song for everyone who feels like a freak, but it is a song by and for transgender people. It is a song by and for queer people. And it doesn’t just suggest a refuge. It demands that we be heard and invites us to fight back against all systems of oppression. It demands aggression and rage and camaraderie. It is what I wish my voice could be when I do not speak lest it be obvious that I am not a cis woman. G.L.O.S.S. was one of the most punk bands to exist and I think all their songs are brilliant and you owe it to yourself to check them out if you like extreme music.
